Hi everyone. I was born Jewish — Jewish mother, Jewish upbringing, bat mitzvah, the works. However I married a non-Jewish man ten years ago and converted to Christianity as part of his family's request when we married. We have since divorced and I have completely left Christianity — I have not practised in four years and consider myself Jewish again both culturally and spiritually.
My question is about the Brother Daniel clause. I voluntarily converted to another religion. Does this permanently disqualify me from aliyah even though I no longer consider myself Christian and have returned to Jewish identity? Is there any pathway for someone in my situation?
