This thread walks you through the essential bureaucratic steps every new oleh must complete in the first few days and weeks after arrival.
Upon landing, youโll receive your:
Go to Misrad HaPnim (Ministry of Interior)
Bring:
You must book an appointment online โ often weeks in advance. Do this ASAP after landing!
You are entitled to free healthcare for your first year as an Oleh.
Choose a provider: Clalit, Maccabi, Meuhedet, or Leumit
Go to the post office or Kupah office with:
After registering, go to the local Kupat Cholim branch to get your membership card and choose a doctor.
Required to receive:
Payments are deposited monthly for 6 months into your Israeli bank account.
Make sure:
Youโve opened a bank account
Itโs linked to your Misrad HaAliyah file
You update any changes to contact info
Go to Misrad HaPnim
Bring:
You're eligible for a free Hebrew Ulpan course.
Register through Misrad HaAliyah or directly at an Ulpan near you
Most courses last 5 months, 5 days/week

Step 1: At the Airport โ Teudat Oleh
Upon landing, youโll receive your:Teudat Oleh (Oleh Certificate)
Temporary ID or instructions for Misrad HaPnim
Initial Sal Klita (absorption payments)
Instructions on how to continue your process
Step 2: Get Your Teudat Zehut (Israeli ID Card)


- Passport
- Teudat Oleh
- Photos (some offices take them there)

Step 3: Register for Health Insurance (Kupat Cholim)
You are entitled to free healthcare for your first year as an Oleh.

- Teudat Oleh
- Teudat Zehut
- Health form (from Misrad HaAliyah)

Step 4: Open an Israeli Bank Account
Required to receive:- Sal Klita payments
- Salary
- Bituch Leumi (National Insurance)
- Teudat Oleh
- Teudat Zehut
- Passport
- Phone number & Israeli address
Step 5: Continue Receiving Absorption Payments
Payments are deposited monthly for 6 months into your Israeli bank account.Make sure:

Bring:
- Teudat Zehut
- Rental contract or letter from host
- Proof of residence (like utility bill)
Step 7: Ulpan (Hebrew Classes)
You're eligible for a free Hebrew Ulpan course.


Tip: Keep All Your Documents Together
Create a folder with:- All original documents
- Copies of your ID, passport, bank info, etc.
- Utility bills and rent contracts
- A list of government office contacts and appointments
