When applying for Aliyah, medical issues can sometimes impact approval or affect your benefits.
You may be asked to provide:
Israel does not deny Aliyah for all health issues โ but the government may assess whether youโll need full-time care or pose a financial burden on the system.
If in doubt, consult a professional (e.g. Easy Aliyah) to help present your case clearly.
Good news: New Olim receive free health insurance for their first 6โ12 months, depending on your age and status.
There are 4 main providers:
Family doctors
Specialists
Labs and pharmacies
Online portals and apps
Ask locals or Olim in your area which one is best for your city or needs.
To register, youโll need:
You can register at your local post office or directly with the health fund.
After registering:
You may bring a reasonable personal supply (with prescription)
Bring a doctorโs letter listing medications and diagnoses
Medications should be in original packaging
Israel may not have the exact same brand โ always check with a local doctor upon arrival
Mental health services are available in all Kupot.
Speak to your GP to get a referral
Services are typically in Hebrew, but some English-speaking therapists are available privately
Therapy is partially subsidized โ private care is also widely available

Before Aliyah โ Medical Considerations
When applying for Aliyah, medical issues can sometimes impact approval or affect your benefits.You may be asked to provide:
A medical letter from your doctor explaining any chronic illness or disability
Details of any prescription medication you take
Mental health documentation if relevant to your case
Translations of medical records (if needed by Misrad HaPnim or your Aliyah office)

After Aliyah โ Israeli Healthcare 101

Step 1: Choose a Kupat Cholim (Health Fund)
There are 4 main providers:Clalit
Maccabi
Leumit
Meuhedet




Ask locals or Olim in your area which one is best for your city or needs.
Step 2: Register for a Health Fund
To register, youโll need:Teudat Oleh
Teudat Zehut (or temporary ID)
Israeli bank account
Form from Misrad HaAliyah confirming youโre entitled to free coverage

Step 3: Activate Your Membership
After registering:- Visit your Kupah branch
- Get your membership card
- Choose a family doctor
- Download the app (most are in English)
