What Kind of Background Check Do I Need?
You must provide a national-level background check from your country of citizenship and any countries youโve lived in for over 6 months in the past 10 years.Hereโs how it works per country:
USA: FBI Identity History Summary (not state police)
UK: ACRO Police Certificate
Canada: RCMP fingerprint-based check
Australia: National Police Certificate
South Africa: SAPS clearance certificate
How Recent Should It Be?
- It must be issued within the past 6 months
- Some consulates may request a newer version if the process is delayed
- Always get the official copy โ signed, stamped, or digitally verified
Do I Need an Apostille or Translation?
Check with your local Aliyah office โ but usually:- Background checks need an apostille
- If not in English or Hebrew, youโll need a certified translation
- Some embassies prefer notarized translations
