Aliyah From Dublin

Slán agus Shalom. Simon here, 35, from Dublin. The Irish Jewish community is tiny — we number about two thousand people in the entire country — so I have grown up in a very small community that is warm but limited. I have always felt that Israel was where I belonged.
I am the only one of my immediate family making aliyah — my parents are not planning to come and my brother is firmly Irish. The sense of making this move entirely solo — no family safety net in Israel, no pre-existing community — is the part that gives me the most anxiety.
Jewish by birth, straightforward documentation. Applied through the Jewish Agency Ireland — which operates through the Irish Jewish community's existing infrastructure given our small numbers. The process has been slower than I expected for a small community but is moving forward.
Targeting Tel Aviv. I work in software engineering which should be very accessible. My Hebrew is basic — I had bar mitzvah Hebrew and not much more.
Anyone who made aliyah completely alone without any family in Israel — truly starting from zero — please share how you built your community and what helped most in the first year.
